Santa Monica has no shortage of dental offices, so choosing a cosmetic dentist across town is a deliberate decision. Patients who make the trip to Dr. Dan Shaer usually want one thing above all: a smile that is designed rather than guessed, with a preview they can approve before any tooth is touched.

Because treatment is planned in detail up front, the number of visits is known from the start. That matters when every appointment means a drive into Beverly Hills, and it lets you schedule around work and the 10 freeway rather than the other way round.

Getting here from Santa Monica

From the Third Street Promenade the drive is roughly 10 miles. The typical route takes 4th Street to the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) heading east for about 6 miles, then exits onto La Cienega Boulevard and heads north about 2 miles to Wilshire.

From north of Wilshire in Santa Monica, some patients prefer to stay on surface streets and take Wilshire Boulevard east the whole way, which passes through Westwood and Beverly Hills before reaching the studio.

Finding the studio when you arrive

Coming up La Cienega from the 10, the studio is on Wilshire just west of the La Cienega intersection. If you pass the Beverly Center on your right, you have gone about half a mile too far north.

The block is easy to recognize: the entrance to the Wilshire/La Cienega Metro station is about a block away.

By public transit, one option is the Metro E Line from downtown Santa Monica to 7th Street/Metro Center in Downtown LA, then the D Line west to Wilshire/La Cienega. It is a long ride compared with driving, but it avoids the freeway entirely.

What Santa Monica patients can plan here

For a coastal lifestyle that is lived outdoors and on camera, many people are drawn to porcelain veneers or a broader cosmetic plan that brightens and reshapes the smile without looking artificial. Smile design is where that starts: your proportions are mapped to your face and previewed before treatment.

If a tooth is missing or failing, dental implants replace it with a fixed tooth planned in 3D, and Invisalign is an option for straightening without fixed braces.

Because veneers and cosmetic plans are designed to suit your face and coloring, it helps to bring photos of smiles you like. They show Dr. Dan the shape and brightness you have in mind before he designs your preview.
